Snack time is the most important time of the day for me. As a result, it’s critical to have healthy snack options on hand to avoid mindlessly eating processed foods when hunger strikes. It is always good to establish a solid list of healthy snacks. Of course, make them readily available in your fridge or cupboard so you don’t have time to stray to something unhealthy.
Here is a list of 10 healthy snack ideas that I always have in my reach in between meals:

Carrots & Hummus
This is my all-time comfort food! I love when I can call something health my comfort food. Hummus and carrots are perfect for prepping ahead of time since they keep so well. Just simply add some water to the cut carrots for storing purposes so they don’t dry out. For a hummus recipe with a fun twist click here for my Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Hummus recipe.
Air popped popcorn
I could eat popcorn everyday! But it HAS to be air popped! It is quick, easy, healthy and cost effective. To change it up I’ll even add a little cinnamon for a different flavour.
Trail mix
For a nice combination of salty and sweet to satisfy every craving, trail mix never disappoints. It’s also a great source of protein and healthy fats!
GF Vegan Brownies
If you are a chocolate lover, you will love this healthy gluten free, dairy free snack! Click here for the recipe.
Medium apple with natural peanut butter
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t eat natural peanut butter by the spoonful. I add the apple just to make it seem less weird! With that said, I do love apples as well! The combination is a match made in heaven in my books.
Coconut Blueberry Chia Pudding

Plain Greek yogurt with cinnamon and honey
I like to buy plain greek yogurt and then add my own healthy sweetener to it. Whether that be fruit or honey and cinnamon. The choice is all yours!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Balls
These protein balls have the wonderful combination of peanut butter and chocolate with the perfect crunch. Even better they are dairy free and gluten free! Click here for the recipe.
Avocado toast
This snack just FEELS healthy as you eat it. Use a nice piece of whole grain bread. Cut a quarter avocado and mush it up or slice it fine. Whatever way floats your boat! This snack keeps me satisfied for a long stretch!
Snack to your heart’s content!
I hope you enjoy these healthy snack ideas as much as I do! They have helped me through some desperately hungry times. On the other hand, they have also helped to prevent HANGRY (hungry and angry) times. Always remember to eat regularly to avoid those ‘hangry’ episodes which can lead to unhealthy or binge eating.
Cheers to a healthier you!
