This Chocolate Protein Almond Butter is such a simple yet brilliant concept. If you happened to try my insanely easy, 1-ingredient, almond butter recipe than this recipe is taking it one step further. Just add some chocolate protein powder for a chocolate flavour and some extra protein.

This Chocolate Protein Almond butter is a great spread for toast, crackers, or to put on fruit. I gave some to my son yesterday and he thought it was Nutella. So that is what I will let him believe! It is so delicious, so easy and best of all packed with protein. Not to mention it is very healthy!

I personally like to use this Chocolate Protein Almond butter with my after-workout snack to up my protein intake. I also love to add this gem into my protein balls instead of regular nut butter.

So, if you are looking to jazz up your nut butter routine then try out this Chocolate Protein Almond Butter.

Ingredients

500g raw almonds

1 scoop chocolate protein powder

1-2TBSP almond milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F
  2. Place almonds on baking sheet. Ensure they are spread out evenly on the sheet so that they do not overlap.
  3. Put almonds in over for approx. 20 minutes depending on oven
  4. Once the almonds become aromatic and begin to crackle remove from oven.
  5. Monitor the almonds for the last 5 minutes to ensure they don’t over cook
  6. Almonds will continue to crackle once removed from oven.
  7. Allow almonds to completely cool.
  8. Add to a food processor (you may need to do this in batches depending on size of food processor)
  9. Process almonds until they start to turn into a paste and add the protein powder and almond milk (start with 1 TBSP and add more if you desire a thinner consistency)
  10. Process until they reach your desired consistency stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides. I did about 15 minutes to reach my desired creaminess.
