With zucchinis sprouting up in the garden like crazy, I make it my job to use each one of them without wasting any! Thus, Zucchini Noodles have been a regular meal option in my household lately. This post will tell you all about How to make Zucchini Noodles. Or as I like to call them Zoodles.
Zoodles can be used in so many different recipes and are a great substitute to pasta. For me, I simply do a direct exchange. Pasta out, Zoodles in! I can easily fool my children with Zucchini noodles which brings me great pleasure. I just recently made Roasted Tomato Zucchini Pasta using this guide!
When making Zucchini Noodles, my rule of thumb is to use 1 medium zucchini per person to measure amount.
The next important thing you will require is a spiralizer. I like to use the handheld one the best which you can find here. But I have also used the larger one that holds the zucchini for you which you can find here. However, I don’t find this one as easy to use.
The great thing about these zoodles is you can cook them over a pan or in a pot depending on preference. I enjoy both but I find the pan option quicker!

Ingredients
2-4 Zucchinis (or 1 per person)
½ tsp salt
Instructions
- Cut the ends of the zucchinis
- Insert zucchini in spiralizer of choice and turn the zucchini firmly until noodles form.
- Turn zucchini until desired length is reached.
- Place in a strainer covered with paper towels.
- Sprinkle salt evenly over zucchini and allow to sit for about 10mins. This will remove moisture.
- Squeeze the remaining moisture out of zucchini using the paper towels.
- If frying zucchini, simply add oil to a non-stick pan and add zucchini. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
- If cooking in a pot, simply allow water to come to a boil in a medium-large pot and add zucchini. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat in either option and voila the zoodles are ready to be topped and served!
